Elementary FAQ

If you have access to a device, including cell phones, in your home we would advise utilizing that device as we continue instruction. We are not requiring students in grades K-4 to purchase a device. If you do not have access to any device, please contact Lezlie Nassef at lezlie.nassef@sfcakings.org.

Accelerated Reader will be accessible to students at home (accessible on phones or devices). While we are conducting virtual learning, Accelerated Reader quizzes will not count towards the student’s reading grade or rewards. We encourage you to allow your students to read and take quizzes, however we realize that with public and school libraries closed, you will have limited access to books. If you have a public library card, you can check out books online for your child. There are other online sources to get books that can be researched. The website for quizzes is https://hosted226.renlearn.com/1106610/. You are encouraged to bookmark this page on your phone or device. Students should know their log in and password, but if they do not remember, please contact Lori.Pike@sfcakings.org to get that information. Mrs. Pike is also available if you’d like to call in/Facetime to have her listen to your child read and interact with comprehension questions.

Teachers will be taking attendance each week based on students’ response with completed work. Their attendance will be noted in FACTS as (SO-Student off campus).

Elementary Update 3/13/2020

Dear Parents and Students,

These are very uncertain times and SFCA is working diligently to navigate the information from the CDC and the DOE concerning the COVID-19 virus. We are thankful that God is in control and will see us through these uncertain times. Please know that your child’s education and learning are of the utmost importance to us.  Below are some things to keep in mind for the upcoming weeks.

We are definitely not in school this week or next week for spring break.  There have been no definitive decisions made regarding what will happen beyond that time.  No work needs to be made up for this week, March 16-20, as this is considered an extension to our Spring Break.

In an effort to prepare for not being back in school the week of March 30th, we will have the classrooms open tomorrow, Tuesday, March 17th from 7:30-11:30 AM for you to come and pick up your child’s books, band instruments, etc.  Please come if at all possible during these times so that your child will have the necessary textbooks if needed beyond this week.  Please plan to come in and get the books and leave as we want to make sure that we are maintaining guidelines set by the CDC and DOE.

Teachers are working this week to create ways to communicate what work should be completed beginning the week of March 30.  Please be patient and look for information to be communicated through FACTS.

5th grade students should attempt to sign into their Canvas accounts.  If they cannot, please reach out to your child’s teacher.

Please direct all questions or concerns to me at susie.kackley@sfcakings.org.

We will continue to update you as information becomes available to us.  Please be in prayer for the teachers and administration as we navigate this uncertainty.  Stay healthy and in touch.
Blessings,

Susie Kackley | Elementary Principal
